From skwigg's journal:
Are you ever tempted by the allure low-carb? Keto and Paleo are so popular. Everywhere you turn, people are raving about the health and weight loss benefits.
It helps me to remember the all the grain-free, low-carbers with dead metabolisms, fried thyroids, screwy hormones, and blood sugar issues. Then it's not so glamorous and tempting.
How do you think about habit change?
When I have a habit I genuinely like but think I shouldn't like, I keep doing it until I get bored with it or decide that I'm not enjoying it as much, making it a non-issue basically. Then it's easy to shift or replace. Forcing change earlier tends to invite rebellion, for me anyway. It's the whack a mole thing. I decide I can't eat ice cream for breakfast anymore, but then find myself overeating something else in the afternoon because, sad.
Do you avoid preservatives in your cereal?
BHT is yummy. That's my final conclusion after years of going back and forth. I don't even worry about it anymore. I like MSG now too. :-)
