I came to post this in the makeup thread and realized there wasn’t one here. I’ll start it. After being a Clinique moisturizer person for eons, I have defected to Neutrogena. I love the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. It’s just like Clinique Moisture Surge except cheaper and blue. The thing I love about it is it disappears into your skin without a trace, except for your very soft and moisturized face. It doesn’t leave a sticky residue. It doesn’t pill or flake or do anything weird under makeup. Plus, there’s a sunscreen version for daytime. Neutrogena SPF 30 Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion. Same deal, very moisturizing, behaves with makeup, doesn’t leave me white and shiny, or settle into lines. I use the sunscreen in the morning and the regular one at night. LOVE! Anyone else find any great products lately?

I forgot to add that one of the best YouTube makeup artist tips I’ve seen is to apply your foundation or concealer, go ahead and smile, scrunch up your face, and squint your eyes. A couple minutes later, when makeup has collected in every pore, wrinkle, and crease, and dried there, blend away the excess and then set everything with powder. The creamy makeup tends not to move any further for quite a few hours.
@sunshine, I thought of your CoverGirl nightmare when I was trying to buy a couple of things online from Target last night. It’s bonkers what has happened to the price of drugstore makeup in the last year or two. I ended up spending over $40 for face powder and a couple of lip balms.
After almost two years of not owning more makeup than eyeline and mascara, I went out and purchase makeup to do myself up for my husband's company Christmas party. One blemish coverage stick, foundation, blush and 2 eye shadows cost me $75! And it was only CoverGirl!!! Since the Christmas party I've been wearing it sporatically but I really don't like face makeup. Even with "plumping" face creams underneath, I find it all sits in my wrinkles and makes them more noticeable, which I hate. It also washes out all my colour. I don't know. It's just not for me. But I spent $75 on it and feel like I need to use it so I'm not wasting money.
I went to the Clinique website a couple weeks ago to get two things, a bottle of toner and a cream highlighter stick. It was going to be over $60 and I just couldn't. I thought, surely there are drugstore alternatives, and there are! I got some Thayer's blemish clearing toner, which is very on par with Clinique Clarifying Lotion #4, maybe slightly more drying, but it exfoliates really well and shrinks my pores. Then, I got a Maybelline highlighter stick for $6. I'm feeling very clever and thrifty. This leaves me a lot more cash to waste on electronics and books. 😁 Anybody else had good product finds lately?
Oh cool, thanks for sharing!!!
That is the best skincare blog. I learned about azelaic acid from him too, and confirmed that my love of niacinamide is backed in science. Annnnd my skin is the best it has ever been in my whole life.
@jamielise, that was the most informative and hilarious blog post!
think am loving The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors, which is a moisturizer with hylauronic acid and urea. Urea is pretty much a miracle product for the skin. I also really love their azelaic acid too. This is a great blog for skincare information.

I'll bet that serum is nice @Joyce. Any moisturizer I've tried with hyaluronic acid has really impressed me. They go on watery, but then your skin is super moisturized. It's not at all like sticky face cream.
My latest obsessions are Vichy Skin Fortifying Serum https://www.allure.com/review/vichy-mineral-89-skin-fortifying-daily-booster-moisturizer and It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC cream. Also, Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak dry shampoo has saved me plenty of time in the morning.
I’m digging Kiehl’s products right now. I can’t remember the name of the night wrinkle cream but I think it’s really good. Something with copper. And their avocado eye cream is great. And for cleansers, I like the La Roche Posay probiotic cleansing cream and the cleansing gel from the same line. Still in love with Clinique Super City Block SPF 40 in lieu of foundation. I don’t know if I’ll ever find something that’s better for me!
Yes! Definitely. I loved the Curly Girl thread. I'll go do that.
Any chance anyone would be interested in revitalizing (that can't be the right word...rejuvenating? renewing?) the curly-haired thread? :)
