What the heck is it about this show? It's cheesy, melodramatic, cliched, predictable, overacted nonsense - it's like Alias meets Dallas meets West Wing meets Gilmore GIrls - but with less acting ability. I barely made it through season 1 on disc at the recommendation of a friend who loved it - I wasn't hooked by it - and then saw that seasons 2 & 3 were 'free' on demand, and watched season 2 episode 1 this week when I was sick... ummm. yeah. SO now I am a quarter of the way through season THREE, having shotgunned season 2 in a couple days. It's TERRRRRRRRIBLE. and I LOVE it. LOL. It's been a nice distraction while I am sick and I am pretty impressed with it for zoning out purposes. Anybody else watch the show? what do you think of it? any other recommendations for good zone out t.v.?
We started Orphan Black and then got the puppy... we should go back and clear season 1 at least. I have heard a lot of good things about downton abbey but we have never checked it out, we'll have to see if we can get it for free while we're on the free trial.
The acting... um... inconsistent? it's not... bad. It's either good, or completely overdone. But that alone is kind of worthwhile. there is a great gif of Kerry Washington overacting moments from the show that made me laugh.
I am more of a Downton Abbey (love it!) and historical accounts/movies and documentaries watcher but man, I am hooked on Scandal. It is cheezy and melodramitic and totally over the top nonsense but I can't get enough of it and can't wait for the next season. LOL. Another that I would describe as above and that I also LOVE is House of Cards. I don't know what is it about these two programs but I so look forward to watching them.
Downton 1-4 are free if you have Amazon Prime. S5 is about to start on PBS (tomorrow night, I believe). I've already seen 1-4 on Prime but I'm hoping to get my husband hooked and catch him up, so I'm recording S5 for later. :)

I haven't seen Scandal too but my fave TV shows are: House of Cards, Orphan Black, True Detective, The Good Wife, 24 (at least the earlier seasons. Toward the later seasons it's as if Jack Bauer was indestructible.), GoT. I'm sure there are more but just can't remember off the top of my head. I rarely watch TV so when I do, it better be worth my time.
This post is right up my alley! I don't update my journal very often, but I somehow always find time to discuss trashy TV :) I guess it's also because we finished another episode of Scandal last night (we're about 5-6 episodes behind in the most current season). As much as I love the show, I find myself walking out of the room every time Olivia Pope and the president are alone together. Call me a cynic, but I gag every time they start making googly eyes at each other. You're the president and you're married, for pete's sake!
Ok I've said my peace. :) We watched the season finale of Homeland the other day and I'm anxious for the new one to begin. I'm thrilled Downton Abbey starts back tomorrow! I wasn't too excited about last season but I'm hopeful this one will be good. I can't even remember what happened...
Hayley, my husband says the writers for scandal must have two multi-sided die, one with the characters names and one with nefarious acts - rape/murder/seduction/spying/lying/stealing/cheating - and they just roll the dice and write what's cast. It wouldn't surprise me... :)
