I probably should have started this thread on a more exciting food day, something with donuts or photos. :-) What did you eat today if you don't mind sharing? How do you feel about it?
I'm asking because I suspect that happy eating looks wildly different from person to person and day to day. Delicious healthy days make me happy. Delicious decadent days make happy too! Generally, I'm just happy unless I accidentally hurt myself with some food or another.
Today I had...
Breakfast: smoothie with ice water, Greek yogurt, frozen berries & cherries, a banana, blop of walnut oil, blop of honey. I'm sold on Greek yogurt as a stand-in for protein powder. Plain cups have 14-19g depending on the brand.
Snack: honey roasted peanuts out of the vending machine at work. I was sorely disappointed in these. Too much salt, not enough sweet.
Lunch: turkey burger (no bun) with hickory & brown sugar barbecue sauce, green beans with butter and sea salt, couple of pineapple rings, 2 squares of dark chocolate. Turkey burgers are boring by themselves but are a super fine carrier for barbecue sauce.
Dinner: 2 chicken drumsticks (baked, with crispy lemon pepper skin), another small mountain of buttery green beans, a few more pineapple rings.
Two things. First, I have no idea how many calories that is. The yogurt was the only thing with a label. Well, wait, the nuts had a label but I didn't check it. Funny how much easier it is to dodge the numbers when I'm not eating packaged protein bars and Lean Cuisines all day. Second, since I've been in a primal food mood lately I've backed way off on bread and cereal most days. I'm kind of shocked that I don't miss my Cheerios and that I'm not hungry. That was a very satisfying day of food. My stomach only growled once, which sent me foraging for vending machine peanuts.
I do have a frozen pizza and a couple of mini ice creams saved to enjoy on my day off. Cave people would have eaten pizza and ice cream if they'd found it while out hunting, trust me. :-)
