I accidentally discovered that Clinique's Pep Start Eye Cream is miraculous. Thanks to all the recent dog crying, my eyelids looked like little red, shiny water balloons. I was rummaging through my makeup drawer for something to soothe them and found a Pep Start Eye sample. Wow! In about ten seconds it gave me normal human eyes! I don't know how it works, but I will definitely be choosing that as one of my free samples from now on.
Maybe you all can solve a skincare problem for me. On the skin under my eyes, on both sides of my nose, my pores are very, very visible (probably from long years I spent squeezing blackheads there as often as I could, ugh and oops). Is there anything I could use to possibly make the pores smaller and skin smoother there? I've been considering seeing a dermatologist, but I'd prefer to save the time/money, if anyone has any ideas or recommendations.
My own pore reduction scheme is using the Clinique sonic brush and Clarifying Lotion #4 to keep the pores clear, then Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser to fill them in. It helps makeup glide smoothly over pores and lines instead of collecting in them. It has kind of a matte finish and seems to blur skin imperfections. I always wear it under foundation but I wear it alone too.
I'll second the sonic brush and Clarifying Lotion #4 recommendations. I've got the Baby Skin but don't love the texture. I don't hate it, either, but usually can't be bothered with adding that step.
My other best solution to any and all pore/wrinkle issues is my aging eyesight, haha! I love how perfectly nature times that all out. Of course, I did just buy a 10x magnifying mirror compact, but that's mostly to help with tweezing (brows and the other errant black hairs on my chinny-chin-chin, another of nature's lovely little gifts in my late 40s). I'm sure eventually I'll need it more often: to apply eye liner or mascara, for instance. Meanwhile, most of the time I just embrace the blurriness and figure that if I can't see X or Y "flaw" whilst peering into the regular mirror from a few inches' distance, other people -- who mostly stand much further away from me -- likely can't see it either!!! :D

Thank you, Skwigg and Tamara! Maybe I will have to splurge and get that sonic brush finally, and the Clarifying Lotion #4, since there seems to be consensus on that. :) And what an excellent point, Tamara, about just not looking so close in the mirror! It's true, I'm probably the only one noticing and caring.
