People give out about 1st of January challanges. I gave up smoking 2004 1st of January. If your current habits don't support your happiness and health, you have to start somewhere. It doesn't matter what point it is, if you feel ready.
And yet, I clearly recall my gym trainer saying February is his busiest month as everyone that goes crazy in January needs his physiotherapist advise as they end up injured.
Hopefully some will make it throught and find what is happy eating for them next year. If they need to clear out the house from the food they tend over induldge, try 10 diets until they figure out what way of eating works for them - dieting, including deit as way of eating is learning, there isn't one way fits all. If someone is eating in way that makes them feel happy and healthy - it doesn't have to be the same way for another person, power to them!
Dublin have some crazy donut trend right now, there are donut shops everywhere. There are donuts in my office all the time. Portions served in restaruants are always large to feed few. 60 to 70% of adults in many countires are either over weight or obese, and many have given up trying. It's complicated, I wish my aunt and my sister in law have not given up and try something else. I wish they pay for qualified dietian and put the time to work with them. I wish they try slimming world, weight watchers, calorie counting or something else again. Seeing them not trying, giving up - it's so hard. What's going to happen to their health?
And yet, there are things as diet trends - based on what will sell and not on sustainablity that aren't remotely helpful. The only benefit they could bring is push someone to somethiing more sustainable. Many perfectly healthy women spend hours worrying about how we eat. I see both sides.
What would be the solution? Better education? Clinical dietitians being more outspoken about fad diet nonsense? Less photoshopping and more real images? More people speaking up against nonsnese diets?
In the mean time #govegan now have posters around dublin and the fake meat is roumered to be the new food processing oportunity.
