It's time! Georgie's book is out next month. Lean Habits for Lifelong Weight Loss is available for pre-order now and will be released April 7, 2015. I thought I'd go ahead and start the discussion thread. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a review copy. I dropped everything and read the whole book straight through. Georgie made me laugh because she said I finished it faster than her husband or mom. I was just a wee bit excited!
This book walks you step-by-step through her approach of changing one habit at a time, and keeping the whole process enjoyable. No suffering, no rules, and no off-limits foods. She introduces her habit tracker as a way to know if you're doing the new behavior most of the time or if you've taken on too big of a change and need to scale the habit to make it easier. There are four core habits that are already familiar to most of us: eating 3-4 satisfying meals per day, being physically hungry for those meals, eating just enough (aka knowing when to stop / reverse engineering), and eating mostly whole foods. There are twelve more habits for fine tuning. They include treat awareness, conquering emotional eating, getting enough sleep, dealing with social situations and many more. Then there is an amazing 30 pages of troubleshooting. That was maybe my favorite part of the book because it's like having a one-on-one talk with Georgie about all of your concerns. She is so wise and reassuring, and funny! In the Troubleshooting section she discusses things like sabotaging thoughts, the problem with calorie counting, and successful maintenance.
I am so excited about this book! I can't wait until everybody has a copy and we can start discussing. I mean, obviously I couldn't wait. I'm starting the discussion thread a month before anybody has it. I crack myself up sometimes. Oh! Oh! And the best part that made me literally jump up and down at work? My quote and the Happy Eaters website are mentioned on page one! Squeeee!!!
