I've been skimming through some recent posts after having been away for quite some time, and I see a wide variety of approaches to fitness. I am trying to figure out what is right for me. My problem mostly boils down to information overload and a good dose of perfectionism - I think I need to have the perfect program and I will keep searching for it until I find it, which is never. Seriously, I cannot tell you how much time I've spent researching this kind of thing while sitting on the sofa drinking wine when I could have been working out instead. ;-)
I would love to just do what I feel like doing on any given day, but at the same time, as someone who has not worked out seriously in a couple of years and is a bit older, I feel like maybe I need some kind of pre-set program with progression in order to work up to a certain level of fitness first? I tend to start out way too fast and injure myself and then I'm back to square one. My goal is to build muscle and functional fitness. Thoughts?
